What is resilience

Resilience is often referred to as the ability to bounce back following challenging times. Whilst we recognise this to be true, we at The Resilience Programme feel it goes much deeper than this. Instead of a reaction to circumstances, resilience for us means a commitment to a way of life - a way of being if you like. We've identified a number of characteristics that indicate whether a person is resilient, however to sum it up briefly we'd say that in order to be resilient, there is firstly a need for a mindset shift. At a personal level, this involves looking within to see the ways in which your behaviour, thoughts and actions influence your life, health, decisions and the people around you. In essence, resilience involves making a choice - to have a genuine commitment to taking responsibility for yourself, your circumstances, and your relationships.
